1981

The Bar-S logo originated from a plant in Seattle, Washington, which became Seattle Packing Company in 1950. The ‘S’ in Bar-S stood for Seattle. The Bar-S brand was the surviving successor of the Cudahy Company with Tim Day at the helm as President and CEO.

1989

A major Clinton, Oklahoma plant expansion was completed to support a volume increase.

1989

1996

We centralized our operations and distribution facilities to Oklahoma and opened the new Altus plant.

1998

We opened the Lawton plant, as well as a distribution and service center in Elk City, both located in Oklahoma.

1999

The USDA implemented the Hazardous Analysis and Critical Point program (HACCP). Bar-S led the industry by implementing extensive procedures to ensure safe products.

2006

Bar-S became the #1 best-selling hot dog brand in the United States (Based on volume of hot dogs sold, Nielsen 2006)

2006

2010

Bar-S Foods was acquired by Sigma Alimentos, a packaged food leader throughout Mexico and Central America.

Bar-S celebrates its 15 year anniversary as the #1 best-selling hot dog brand in the United States. (Based on volume of hot dogs sold, Nielsen 2005 – 2020)
