Directions:

  1. Turn oven broiler on high. Open the hamburger buns and place on a large cookie sheet.
  2. Spread butter on each bun evenly on all sides of the buns (both externally and internally).
  3. Place pan in oven and broil buns for 1-2 minutes until the butter is melted and the buns are golden brown.
  4. Change the oven temperature from broil to 375 degrees.
  5. Use half of the slices of ham to layer onto the bun bottoms. Top with a slice of cheese and repeat one more time on each of the four buns.
  6. Place the top of the bun on each of the sandwiches and put back in the oven for 7-10 minutes. When the cheese is melted and the bun tops are golden brown, you will know the sandwiches are done. Serve immediately.

Optional: Mix the Mayonnaise and Dijon Mustard to create a sauce. Place the sauce inside each of the ham and cheese sandwiches prior to baking.
